Table — La Parada, Ibiza
2024
La Parada, a boutique in Santa Gertrudis, Ibiza, is an artistic space envisioned by founder Sophie Daunais and meticulously designed by the rewarded interior architecture studio CHZON. Inspired by the atelier of a ceramic sculptor, the boutique offers a gallery-like atmosphere where every piece of bespoke furniture, including the featured table in the kids' room, is crafted from organic materials and exhibits playful, natural shapes.
Material
The table is made almost entirely from Hempcrete, with both the hemp fibers and natural cement sourced from France. The cement is a minimally processed natural product, underscoring our commitment to circularity and local sourcing.
Process
Due to the table’s dimensions—100 x 150 x 100 cm—and weight—approximately 450 kg—it was assembled on-site by stacking blocks, with an integrated wooden layer for structural stability. After forming the basic shape, the table was sculpted using a subtractive methodology. The surface was then finished with natural limestone plaster, ensuring both durability and a seamless integration into the boutique’s artistic environment. The blue ladder, which reaches towards a window, was constructed alongside the table using a combination of wood, locally grown grass, and limestone, further enhancing the playful and sustainable design of the space.
