Located within a private residence in Ibiza, the Artefact Table serves as a functional centerpiece designed for the specific needs of the client. This substantial piece—measuring 300 x 120 cm—demonstrates how sustainable materials can meet demanding practical requirements. The table's distinctive two-leg structure provides generous legroom while creating a light, hovering appearance that allows this colossal piece to blend seamlessly into both the room and its surroundings, supporting gatherings of up to ten people while maintaining resistance to red wine, oil, and the everyday demands of shared dining.Inspired by Ibiza's traditional white limestone architecture with its characteristic soft curved shapes, the table echoes the island's architectural heritage through a contemporary lens. The construction embraces slight imperfections that recall familiar forms found in nature, lending the piece a sense of playfulness while addressing the practical realities of daily use. The piece embodies a design approach where practical needs and aesthetic beauty exist in natural balance.

Material
The table is constructed primarily from hempcrete, using hemp fibers and natural cement sourced from France to minimize environmental impact and support circular material practices. An integrated wooden framework ensures structural integrity, while limestone provides the basic surface texture and natural jute mesh serves as an intermediate layer between the wood and limestone, acting as a bonding bridge that accommodates the different expansion properties of these materials. The finish is achieved through Mortex, a mineral-based coating that provides exceptional stain resistance and sturdiness, offering superior protection against scratches and daily wear while maintaining the organic aesthetic fundamental to the design.
