It starts as a single stainless steel panel from a dismantled industrial kitchen. Then: cleaning, sanding, mirror polishing, freehand hammering — no molds, no templates, no predetermined form. Each platter is shaped in one session, the surface a direct record of the maker's hand and the particular state of that day. Because the finish mirrors its surroundings, it shifts with the light and the room — never quite the same object twice. Use it to serve, to display, or simply to hold space on a surface.
Objects in the Derivatives Series are fabricated from reclaimed materials. Subtle surface variations are part of the material’s history and contribute to the individuality of each piece. The following terms describe the visible material character.
Great
Minimal visible surface variation. The material appears clean and refined, either preserving only faint traces of its previous life or presenting a newly applied finish.
Good
Minor surface marks or tonal variations may be visible, reflecting the reclaimed origin of the material.
Fair
Visible surface character including scratches, texture variation, patina, or signs of time from the material’s previous use.
