Stone waste, usually discarded after cutting, becomes the starting point. Each piece is selected for its surface — the particular pattern, the shift in tone, the character the material already has. The larger opening here makes it a quiet fixture on the breakfast table, grounding a daily ritual in something that took millions of years to form. No two pieces are identical. Suits natural material kitchens and considered domestic spaces.
Objects in the Derivatives Series are fabricated from reclaimed materials. Subtle surface variations are part of the material’s history and contribute to the individuality of each piece. The following terms describe the visible material character.
Great
Minimal visible surface variation. The material appears clean and refined, either preserving only faint traces of its previous life or presenting a newly applied finish.
Good
Minor surface marks or tonal variations may be visible, reflecting the reclaimed origin of the material.
Fair
Visible surface character including scratches, texture variation, patina, or signs of time from the material’s previous use.
